Amidst the noise and bustle, the excitement rose and rose
Freezing as we stood there, we couldn’t feel our toes
Adorned with hats, in Christmas style, some with lights that lit
Sharon played the key note and – what the – oh (dear)
A Rock Band made its presence felt, drowning other sounds
Just as well that down our end, not many were around
We all sang notes we couldn’t hear, they might have been OK
But whether it was harmony, none of us could say.
Undeterred, we tried again, this time with more success
We sang and smiled and jigged around and bravely did our best.
At last, at 6, upon the stage, electronic echoes died.
‘Those ladies down the other end have drowned us out” they cried
A crowd had formed, we gave them cheer, as in the queue they waited
What Child Is This and Jingle Bells and Frosty - unabated
We even sang the Blues to them, which made them smile - we shone
The countdown finished, the lights lit up – quick as a flash we’re gone.
Keep Singing :)
